Shop with Fair Trade

It doesn’t matter if it’s the ingredients for you lunch today or what you’re wearing right now. They all have their origin; some are from far away and the others are made in your country. But is this information really important for us consumers? It is hard for us to imagine that but plenty of products and clothes are made by people under very bad conditions. Even children under the age of 14 are involved in this process. You can’t just look away in this case and buy the product “blindly” without knowing the story of the manufactory behind it.

That’s one of the reasons why the origin and the delivery of products should be both important for the world trade and for us consumers. Every entrepreneur and small-scale farmer in their country wants to offer their products and earn fair for their work, so they can reach great success in the market. Not to forget, there are still traders who earn so little because their products don’t gain access to worldwide markets and without this access it can lead to small to no profit. Through that, the traders won’t be able to compete in the global marketplace and it will be hard to meet the basic needs for their families.

This happens frequently in developing countries or countries where the payment is very bad due the national economy. Therefore, the local people and even their children need to work in bad conditions just to keep their family afloat. They are working with corrosive agents that damage the skin, with chemical gases which they breathe in every day because they don’t get protective clothing at work. Their children have to give up their chance to go to school and work at a young age.

In order to benefit to everybody, a charity called Fairtrade helps merchants, who have difficult problems with the income. They ensure that they can market their harvest and take part at the world trade. Consequently, the products from the traders receive a fair price at the market and, additionally, they obtain higher living standards due better profits. If you want to support this charity or other organisations worldwide, you can donate online under the link www.globalgiving.org.

Lastly, I want to show you another opportunity where you can help traders. First you need to start buying products from the charity Fairtrade or from other traders, where you are sure that the people don’t work under these bad conditions and earn fairly for their sold products. You change so much in this world with that approach but the only question is: when will you start taking your first step? If you have something on your mind based to my blog, don’t hesitate and feel free to leave a comment. Until next time and don’t forget to stay healthy!
