My internship as a receptionist

Hi guys, welcome to my blog!

My name is Lena, I’m 17 years old and in my blog post today, I would like to talk about my practical training as a receptionist at the “Hotel & Restaurant Perschler” in Rattenberg.

I was very glad when I found a job because the current situation – you know – was not the best for searching for an internship. But I found one, like I mentioned before, in a hotel which provides 49 rooms (20 in the main building, 19 in the chalet and 10 in the Stadl) – most with beautiful balconies. There’s also a seminar room in the restaurant which can be booked for events.

At the reception, I had different, varied things to do, for example, the check-in and check-out of the hotel guests, room- and table reservations and the writing of menus. Among many other things, I programmed room cards and was responsible for accounting. If I had any questions, Pia, my workmate and Mr. Perschler, my boss was always there for me to help. I worked either in the morning (from 7:00) or in the afternoon (from 14:00), but almost every day more than 8 hours, on some days even 10 hours.

Also, the working atmosphere was amazing, I got along very well with my workmates and I also enjoyed the contact with the guests a lot. In addition, I think I improved my stress resistance enormously, because I had to work under time-pressure so often and I frequently had to solve problems on my own, which also greatly increased my self-confidence.

To sum up, I can say that I really enjoyed my internship – that’s why I would like to continue working at the “Hotel & Restaurant Perschler” on weekends!

I hope you enjoyed my blog entry – maybe you would like to share your internship experiences, so feel free to leave a comment! 😉

A challenging time

Hello guys,

Today I want to talk about my internship and what experiences I made.

I did my internship at the Aldiana Club Salzkammergut. My task area was the main restaurant and the bar and sometimes I worked in the spa. The hotel is situated in Bad Mitterndorf. There are many mountains and most importantly the Grimming which is the “house mountain” there.

The hotel has a great offer of facilities like a volleyball field, a fitness centre, a wellness area and much more. I would recommend relaxing in the wellness area and in the evening, you can go to the main restaurant where the hotel provides a huge buffet. Nearly every day there is a show in the theatre bar.

My tasks were that I had to work in the “Stüberl” at “Jausenzeit” and during breakfast, and during dinner, I had to work in service at the main restaurant. I worked 8-9 hours a day and my shifts were either from about 8:00 in the morning until 22:30 in the evening with a break from 14:00 to 22:30, or from 13:00 to 22:00 when I worked in the bar.

The atmosphere was very friendly. But it wasn’t until the last month. For the first two months I struggled with the other employees, but after that, it felt like everybody was friends with each other. In the bar, the atmosphere was embossed by the temper of some barkeepers but they were always very funny and the kindest people I met there. My co-workers were there for me and helped me out when I had problems or when I was feeling bad.

I hope it was interesting for you to read my blog and you leave a comment!

Yours, Julika
